Steps to make Chicken Biryani:

  1. Wash and soak rice for half an hour before boiling. Wash chicken and put them in to bowl..
  2. Peel and cut onions in thin slices. Heat up oil and fry onions in oil till brown..
  3. Marinate chicken with yoghurt, biryani masala, green chillies, lemon juice and brown onions. Mix and marinate the chicken for an hour approximately..
  4. Add water in large pateela, add salt, green cardamom, black cardamom, cinnamon sticks, cumin seeds and black whole pepper simmer the water and add soaked rice..
  5. Cook rice till ¾ done. Strains the water from rice and set aside..
  6. In a wok which we used to fry onions. Add chopped tomatoes cook for a minute then add marinated chicken..
  7. Cook chicken till done. Gravy is not to be thick or nor to be thin..
  8. First add half rice in the pateela and put all the chicken with gravy in on the rice then again spread remaining rice all over..
  9. At last add lemon wedges, green chillies halves, fresh mint leaves and sprinkle garam masala over the rice..
  10. Sprinkle yellow food colour and pour milk on the colour. Give dum for at least 20 minutes or till done..
  11. Delicious Chicken Biryani is ready to serve with mint Raita..
